Topic 1 – Sectors, Products, Platforms and Devices

Sectors is all about spreading the word, telling stories and entertaining. There are 5 main types of media sectors which are Gaming, Moving Image, websites, publishing and audio. In digital media sectors are an area or portion of media that is distinct from others and all these sectors are the industries that make the product.

The media product can also be a sales product, the product is which the media is created with for example Movies, Tv shows, Magazines, PlayStation games or newspaper. The media item or media product fills in as a structure hub that gatherings physical units of offer. It portrays the business setting for every one of the media issues allocated to it.

The platforms a digital way for media to be distributed and accessed. They include Tv broadcast, pay-per-view, cinema etc. The platform in digital media allows people to access many things. Platform can also include online content such as web pages and streaming. 

The term media device means any hardware or software. Devices are used to access digital media, these can include mobile phones, laptop, mp3 player, mp4 player, pcs, game consoles and handheld devices.

Throughout the years, technology has expanded widely across the world it has expanded to a point where audiences no longer consume media text in the same way as before. New digital media have made it easier for audiences to consume products. Convergence and other technological advances have also increased accessibility and made the media more convenient for audiences. Digital media has considerably changed the way on how we consume the news. For example online news means that the news is more accessible as audiences can read it whenever they want and it also keeps them up to date. Not only is this convenient for audiences but they can also decide when and how to consume the news but it is also free which means that new digital media benefits audiences as they can access the news whenever and however they like. The new media technology has enhanced in many ways in how everyone consumes media products due to its availability and accessibility by making it more beneficial for them. for example producers are creating more and more new media technology than ever before like new smart TVs include you tube, Skype, Netflix etc. this allows people to watch many things on there TV rather than just the channels they got. So overall access to digital media has changed in many ways on how the audiences consumes media as it has become so much advanced many people now like the new digital media.

Topic 2 – Analogue and Digital

Analogue is (Linear) which means that devices record data linearly from one point to another. Analogue devices read the media such as tapes or records, by scanning the physical data off the media. Also Analog waves are smooth and continuous, in Analog a wave is recorded or used in its original form. The two examples of analog can be Clock or Speakers.

Where as on the other hand digital is (Binary) This is when devices perform all calculations using ones and zeros.Digital technology enables immense amount of information to be compressed on small storage device that can be easily preserved and transported. Nearly everyone uses digital things to access anything in the market. The two examples of digital can be Phone or TV.

Topic 3 - Synergy and technological convergence

Difference between cross media synergy and technological convergence 

Synergy and technological convergence are quite similar to each other. The main difference is that cross media convergence involves media products and synergy can involve non media products for example merchandise. Synergy can be used most often by bigger companies as the different elements work together to promote linked products across different media. Media technological convergence is the tendency that as technology changes, different technological systems sometimes evolve towards performing similar task. where as cross media synergy are a portion of the media which is distinct from others they are the industries which create the media.

Advantage and disadvantage of Technological convergence 

Advantage: 

Faster
Efficient
convenient
Don't have to use to many equipments
work anywhere

Disadvantage:

Technology crashes
Not safe
To reliant on technology
Tech break down
Addiction
detached from reality

The advantages of technology are, it helps us in our daily activities, it makes your work easy and helps you to communicate. where as the disadvantages of technology convergence is that it pollutes the environment, makes you addicted to it, and most especially it makes you lazy.
